Things That Lead To Drug Addiction and How They Can Be Curbed
The addiction to a drug is caused by the neurotransmitters in the brain. These are the chemicals that the brain uses while conducting its normal functions. One of these chemicals is the dopamine which in general creates a good feeling. These chemicals enable the various cells in the body to communicate with others that are found in the body.
Dopamine is one kind of chemical that is related with being dope. There are other neurotransmitters that are involved in the addiction. In that relation, these drugs that bring about addiction make the brain cells excrete making it flood with the chemicals so that the chemical does not get absorbed again into the cells. When this happens, the brain then gets to a state of down regulation where the brain now realizes that the chemicals have been released in plenty than it is required. In that case, the brain minimizes the production of the chemicals. This is why the addict feels depressed and experiences a low moment right after the drug is off his or her body.
Since the addicts have no other option, they find that taking the drug again would be the right thing to do. This is why they are always abusing the drug so as to regain liveliness. Without knowing what they are indulging in, they get into the situation of addiction. This is because the brain regulates the release of the neurotransmitters further such that the urge for the drug grows wilder. This increases the urge for them to take more and more of the drug so as to feel elevated and good. As a result, the addicts continue seeking more and more of the drugs so as to fulfill that urge that rises day in day out. This is basically what leads to the addiction and abuse of the drugs.
